TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) is a type of arc welding that is highly versatile and popular for small and thin materials. It can be used with or without a filler. TIG whilst slower, is more precise and cleaner than MIG welding and so popular for projects that demand higher quality, such as for mining and electronic industries. 

MIG (Metal Inert Gas) is also a type of arc welding however uses a consumable wire that acts as both the electrode and filler material. This makes it popular for larger and thicker materials. MIG welding is much faster than TIG welding and so suitable for large-scale projects that require production costs to be kept low.
